A private residence
Marysville, California
October, 2009
FPS was contacted by the resident who advised that she and her daughter have been experiencing paranormal activity for the past twelve years, which has gotten 'louder' during the past six months.
She reported they have both heard voices (two men and one woman), have seen shadows, a candle was thrown across the room and a picture was moved from the top of the television to the floor in the middle of the room. Also reported was banging in the kitchen, the dog growling in the middle of the night at the hallway and an intermittent reflection in the entry way.
Neither resident reported feeling scared or threatened in the home.
Downstairs neighbor reported seeing a male shadow in her bedroom doorway when nobody was home, advised the person looked Hispanic.
Investigators: Tanya Curtis, Harold Curtis, Jeri Conklin, Jim Cameron, Dave Doody. Both residents were present for the investigation, as well as a downstairs neighbor for part of investigation.
Equipment used: 3 digital cameras & 2 digital recorders, 2 EMF meters, 2 mini-dv camcorders.
Time started: 7:30 P.M.
Weather: Clear, dark, cool.
Evidence gathered: Slight temperature fluctuation detected near the master bedroom closet and mirror.
Photo evidence: Nothing out of the ordinary.
Recorded evidence: Nothing out of the ordinary.
Personal experiences: Jeri felt the spirits of two Hispanic men named Alonzo and Pedro from pre-Gold Rush times who had died on the land. They were asked to pass over by the juvenile resident with investigators present.
Jeri also felt a friendly female presence named Maric attached to the juvenile, but felt no ill will toward the family from any of the entities.
Harold reported that the notebook and pen in his back pocket were missing shortly after he'd written on them in the master bedroom. A subsequent search of the entire residence found the items placed inside a closed linen closet at the end of a hallway where Harold had searched at the beginning of the investigation. He states he had not been there since and several investigators had seen him writing in the notebook since that time.
Investigation techniques: Base EMF readings were taken throughout the residence. Photos taken of all rooms, the location where the light anomaly was reported, kitchen, bedrooms, bathroom. EVP sessions recorded in both bedrooms and living room. Cupboards and drawers all tested in kitchen. Video taken throughout location and set in bedrooms for static recording.
Conclusion: No physical evidence found, through hours of video and audio recordings. We were unable to exactly recreate the light anomaly reported by the resident, although we could create a somewhat similar reflection was created by shining a flashlight through the peephole in the front doorway to reflect off a metal object opposite the door. Therefore our investigation was inconclusive on this part.
Several of the investigators noted the dog growling and barking at anything passing by outside the residence.
Sounds of vehicles, radios and people talking outside the apartment were very loud through the open windows and sounded as if they were inside the residence. This was also recorded on audio and video when the lights of cars passed by the windows. Odd shadows were also thrown through the bedrooms when vehicles passed by or people walked through the hallway.
We were unable to explain the candle thrown across the room.
The photo falling from the top of the television in the master bedroom could conceivably have bounced and landed in the location we were shown that it had ended up at.
Floors uneven and would sometimes shake tables when walked by.
While we were unable to record any physical evidence at the residence, we talked with the residents at length about our investigation techniques and things they could do to reclaim their home and make them feel more at ease.
The residents say the home has been very quiet since the investigation, although they have heard the two men talking once since then.
